Iridology is the science and practice concerned with the study of the iris. It is a form of diagnosis which is based on the markings, structures and pigmentation of the iris, and their position in the zones of the iris which relate to different parts of the body.
It is has been around since Egyptian times, used by the Chaldeans, 1000 years BC. The Cairo museum has a display of ceramic eyes covered with hand-painted iris markings.
It has a long history in complementary medicine
and, although not currently practised by modern
orthodox medicine in the UK, it is often used
as a diagnostic tool by medical doctors in Germany,
USA, Russia and Hungary.
Iridology indicates tendencies and predispositions,
rather than giving definitive diagnosis and,
as such, is a great method of analysis which
provides invaluable information for taking preventative
action. It offers the practitioner and patient
the possibility to recognise particular disease
developments before the symptoms become more
obviously noticeable.
